Last updated: September 20, 2026

Cale SEO Inspector is provided by Cale Media. This policy covers page inspection in versions 1.0.0 and 1.1.0, plus the optional DataForSEO research features introduced in version 1.1.0. Version 1.1.0 has been prepared but is not yet available in the Chrome Web Store.

Page inspection

When you open the inspector, it reads the selected page's URL, titles, descriptions, metadata, headings, links, image URLs and alternative text, structured data, language declarations, phone links, and related page measurements. Pages can contain personal or business information. The extension processes this information locally and does not send page inspection content, findings or saved snapshots to Cale Media.

Business details entered for a local comparison remain in the open workspace. They are not submitted to Cale Media or Google Business Profile.

Optional DataForSEO research in version 1.1.0

Research requires your own DataForSEO API account and credits. Cale Media charges no software fee. Connecting credentials does not run a paid lookup; DataForSEO checks the credentials when a lookup is made.

After you grant API access and approve a lookup, the extension sends your API login and API password over HTTPS directly to api.dataforseo.com. The request includes the keyword or domain, selected location, language, device, and result limits required for that feature. DataForSEO also receives normal connection information such as your IP address. Credentials, queries and results are not routed through Cale Media's servers. DataForSEO applies its own terms, charges and privacy policy: https://dataforseo.com/privacy-policy.

The extension retains your API login and password only in Chrome's in-memory session storage, restricted to trusted extension contexts. It does not save credentials in local storage, Chrome Sync, exports, or diagnostic logs. Session storage is cleared when Chrome restarts or the extension is disabled, reloaded or updated. Disconnect & forget removes the credentials and research caches immediately. Requests already sent cannot be recalled and may still be billed.

Research results can include keywords, domain names, ranking URLs, link metrics and account usage costs. The latest 12 normalized results are cached for the browser session. Reusing a recent cache or opening a previous result does not make another paid request. New requests always require a cost confirmation. No scheduled paid lookups or automatic paid retries run.

Storage and exports

Recent inspections, optional network-check results, research credentials and research results use Chrome session storage. Reproducible inspection caches may be removed to make room for newer results.

Snapshots you explicitly save, appearance preferences, the research spending guard and aggregate daily API usage totals use Chrome local storage. Local usage totals contain the UTC date, request count, provider-reported costs and pending or unconfirmed cost reservations. They do not contain API credentials or payment-card details. Clearing research results keeps these usage totals so the spending guard remains meaningful. Local information remains until deleted, the extension's data is cleared, or the extension is uninstalled. The extension does not synchronize it to Chrome Sync.

CSV, JSON and printable reports are saved through your browser. Exports can include inspected website information, research queries, provider task identifiers and results. They never include API credentials. You control where exports are kept and who receives them. Device and browser security settings also affect local information and downloads.

Other network requests

Basic page inspection needs no external SEO data service. Optional internal-link checks and HTTP response inspection request access to the selected site's origin and fetch status codes, headers or source HTML. These requests omit login cookies and referrers and do not follow redirects. The target website receives normal connection information.

Loading a declared social image sends a request to that image's host with no referrer. External validators, provider links and Cale Media links open only when clicked. A validator link may include the inspected page's URL. External websites apply their own privacy policies.

Purpose and your controls

The extension uses information only to provide its visible SEO inspection and research features. It has no Cale Media account system, telemetry, advertising code, automatic browsing-history collection, AI integration or remotely downloaded executable code. Cale Media does not sell this information or use it for unrelated advertising, creditworthiness or lending. Use and transfer of user data follow the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

In Settings, you can remove optional access, clear recent results, adjust appearance and clear page highlights. Clearing recent results also removes research credentials. In Research, you can disconnect, clear cached research and adjust the daily guard. In Compare & save, you can delete individual snapshots. Uninstalling removes extension storage; exported files remain under your control. Revoking a credential at DataForSEO is managed in that account.

Changes and contact

Cale Media will update this policy when the extension's practices change. For questions, use https://calemedia.com/contact/.
